New opportunities for writing and art based submissions in the North

In the last few days I've come across a few new opportunities for both writing and art based submissions from Northern sources. I've listed them with their links below. There are some exciting new inititives, good luck to all involved. Submissions are not restricted to those from the North of the country.

Honest Ulsterman - a new publication (based on an old one) that's now open to submissions. It has a facebook site here  but, there currently seems to be more information available from its twitter feed @HonestUlsterman. It has a particular interest in Northern Ireland focused work, but not exclusively. Looking for poetry, short stories, reviews and essay proposals. Send to honestulsterman@gmail.com

Voluntary Arts Ireland - Open call to amateur and professional artists for No Jury No Prize - See details  here  This is linked to the visual arts programme for the City of Culture 2013, and  artists can submit their work to London Street Gallery, Derry. Submissions are welcome in a wide variety of medium - from the website: drawing, photography, painting, poetry or text, documentation of a performance, an installation, scupture... more. There are size restrictions though, see website for details. Work to be submitted between 11th and 15th October into the gallery during opening hours.

The Derry Literary Review -  a new journal which is seeking submissions of short stories, poetry, literary criticism, and literary bio. Website here  commences 8th October 2013, submissions detailed  here  Twitter @DerryLitReview
